1. The dark chocolate Bounty Bars that disappeared last December are back in stores around here (or at least one store) and we are pleased. A lot of you wrote in to tell me where we could order cases of the bars online and some of you even offered to send them from across the pond, and thank you, but we just held out and hoped the universe would return them to the place where we found them in the first place. Sometimes you want that little gesture even more than you want chocolately coconut goodness. As for those of you in Chicago, DON’T EAT THEM ALL PLEASE.
2. Sometime between 9 and 10 am CST today you can hear me reading my most recent Field-Tested Books piece on Chicago Public Radio WBEZ. If you miss it this morning (and you probably will, because I am posting this at the last minute), the segment will be archived here on the Eight Forty-Eight page.
Have a great weekend, chickens!

Always wondered what you were doing in the back seat.
I read T.S. Eliot’s “The Waste Land” on the State St. subway when I was in college.

You’re lucky. Here in CT those little treats are $7.50 a pop. I can barely afford to lick the wrappers.

That’s not too bad of a price to be paying here in The States for those. I actually am awaiting a package of UK sweets to show up on my doorstep. Fortunately mine are free.
Again I will say, I don’t understand how you like those. That’s one of the only UK candy bars I pass up.

They’re not as special as Aero bars or Crispies or anything like that, but for checkout aisle candy they’re great. They’re so much like Mounds that they’re probably not special to most people, but since they don’t have the almond traces that Mounds bars have, Chris can eat them without dying.
That said, the best coconut dark chocolate candy out there are Coconut Patties, which we found at Cracker Barrel. Good for road trips!

If you ever see Boost candy bars, get one. It’s disgustingly sugary and delicious.
I understand why Bountys are so special, finding nut free products for people will allergies is ridiculously hard sometimes.

I just got back from Devon Market, and they have these on sale for eight-nine cents!

Wendy,
I have to comment on how funny your current twitter is (regarding the country needing candy). I did laugh, right out loud..
I’ve always enjoyed your blog – and, like so many, wish you would write in it again!
Thanks,
Victoria

I’ve never heard of this candy bar but I do love chocolate.
