Okay, people. I tried to set the url of this blog so that it was just “www.poundy.com/poundyblog.html,” but horrible, traumatic things happened. For reasons I am too stupid to understand, my server really needs that “weblog” directory. So, because I didn’t want my blog archives cluttering up the main directory, I’m stuck for now with the longer, clunkier url. Sorry. Memorize it or something.

More pictures of the babies I was scared of here and here.
Oh my God. Just as I was typing that last part here at work I heard baby sounds down the hall! There’s a baby here! Oh shit! I went down and looked: my co-worker on maternity leave had brought her baby in but at least it wasn’t in a carrier on the floor this time. It is a free-range baby today.

Ooh, I solved the code problem that I’d mentioned here (yes, the entry before last, I know). I found an alternate template code at this site.
Today everything seemed to be going wrong: my windshield wipers had picked today to freak out and get all tangled together, like tarantula limbs, and it cost a lot to get them fixed at the Saturn dealer and I worried about writing them a check and I came back to the office and I found a ton more errors in this one book I’m proofreading… But then I came back to the computer and looked up this little Blogger problem, and put in the new code and I uploaded the page and checked it, and suddenly! My day was great! All my self-esteem problems were solved.

After four days off in a row I actually have cabin fever now from being in this apartment so much. I mean, I did leave the house to go to Thanksgiving dinner. Also I went to the gym. Amazingly enough, my gym was open on Thanksgiving Day. I like that they understand that sometimes the holidays are when you stumble on these strange, empty stretches of free time where all you’re doing is waiting for festivity to happen, and since you don’t always have control over these things you might as well work out.
So I went to dinner at my folks’ and came home and brought leftovers back and ate them all in order of desirability: corn pudding on Friday; mashed potatoes Sunday night. The value of a leftover food is measured by how tasty it is while cold. Corn pudding is so good out of the fridge it’s not even funny.

Okay, technical question for you Blogger people: I picked a template that has my archive index in that yellow box to the right. The archiving system seems to work fine, except when you go to an archive page like this one the “current” link tries to take you here where there’s no page, just a 403 error (did you click? did you see?). So what am I doing wrong? I tried to just take that link out but then the script spazzes out and spits in my eye.
